Location and Area
Kayah State is a state of Myanmar and situated in southeastern Myanmar, it is bounded on the north by Shan State, on the east by Thailand, and on the south and west by Kayin State. The area is 4529.56 Square Miles, East to West (128 Miles), and South to North (135) Miles long.
Ethnics and Population
There are many ethnics groups including Kayah, Burma, Shan, Kayin and other ethnics. The estimated population in 2016 was approximately 296151. There are (9) ethnics groups in Kayah and they are-

Kayah Ethnic people live in Loikaw, Demoso, Pha Ru So, Shar Taw, Baw La Khae, Phar Saung, Mae Se, and Ywar Thit. Their famous traditional festivals are Kaehtoebo (or) Tagundaing festival, Dee Ku festival, opening new home celebration, harvest festival, hunting festival, bird hunting festival, traditional wedding ceremony, baby name giving ceremony, childbirth event festival, funeral, eating pounding rice festival.
